A month-long novel-planning challenge. NaNoWriMo'ers welcome! 2026 sign-ups open Sept 1st. |
Can you do research on locations for the novel? Even if it's just the weather for the time of year for your novel. Do typhoons, tornados, hurricanes occur there? Is there snow or a rainy season? Do you know some deserts drop to below freezing at night? I've used the Street View on Google Maps and also searched for images of specific places and things. You can copy maps and pics into a document or virtual notebook. To add a dimension to any travel, you can also research highways, train lines, airports, etc. Do any of your characters need specific clothing, vehicles, school backgrounds... that would fit in with the culture aspect? For example, I now know the name of the hat I intend to use for one character is called a 'slouchy beanie' rather than what I thought was a striped, stocking cap. Sharon from New Jersey |
