I never can do that with mine when I tell them to go into a different direction than what they want they just stop the story. It's like they're digging their heels into the ground in my mind and are like "once you listen to me, we will be able to move on. But until then, this story is finished until you comply."
They know I wouldn't replace them because I'd probably create an even more bossy one, by accident, to replace them.
