I have abandoned a novel that I put a lot of work into because I was concerned about what my mum would think. Not because of the sex, but because some of the themes I covered were quite personal to me and semi-autobiographical. My mum is one of those people who jumps to conclusions and I know that she would have quite a negative reaction to it.

I'll go back to it again one day, when I'm either ready to edit or censor it in some way, or else I won't care what she thinks.
