the usual thing people hate about characters is:
they act stupid in ways that cause trouble
they are abusive
they argue when they are wrong (right fighters).

So the idiot character who is always pushing the button "hey guys, what's this do?"

the hot-head who's starting fights, "oh yeah, you callin' me yella?"

Life is short. The D&D party should always shoot the player of such characters. In writing, that means putting the novel down, because nobody wants to waste their time reading about a plot driven by the village jack-ass.
