I am about 60 percent planner and forty percent pantser. I don't like outlining too much, but then my stories go better when I outline.

And my planning style changes from time to time.

The NaNo I outlined more for was the one I got 111k words, whereas my second NaNo had less outlining and 53k words.

But now I am working on the second draft of my 53k word NaNo. I am still heavily invested in the story, and I redid the first draft and got 72k words last time. I outlined more in the second round.

And because I am working on the second draft of my novel now, I am doing more extensive outlines because I've changed protagonists, and am balancing seven POVs.
