October Novel Prep Challenge

Is there one style over another that works better for a new writer? I've read them all over a couple of times now and pieces of each fit my writing style more than just one does. I've read all the posts on outlining thus far.. The discussions haven't given me enough info to make a decision, maybe it's just me struggling to wrap my head around a method too. Outlining is new to me, I don't outline in poetry or blogging. Suggestions, please
