You can also put a link to your work in your notebook -- that way, it'll show up for those who see the community newsfeed.

About the quality of your work -- people here usually give constructive feedback. They tell you what worked for them while reading your piece, and what didn't. That way, you improve. I guess you'll only put a piece up when you're reasonably sure you want to receive reviews for it. So you can expect some responses that'll help you grow as a writer!
