Well he found the book in a Library, an ordinary one?
Maybe he's ugly on the outside due to the evil stepmom casting a spell or was he born that way? Define ugly. You say a little boy? He's old enough to read so he's at least 5..
Is his dad in the story? If not, why?
Where is he reading this book? at home? an imaginary world?
He has his own sorcery, was he born with it or a learned ability?
