We don't want "objective." Sylvia Plath was not objective. Ted Kooser is not objective. The variation in line structure captures the emotional tension exquisitely. When done in a pattern, as in Every sniffle, bruise, headache, nosebleed— Compartmentalize. Rationalize. Bargain. intensity tightens with each line, and then the breath is released with the longer lines following. I know this was difficult. Thank you for sharing! Let the creativity flow from your soul!
