So what exactly changed for you with this knowledge? Going from continuous communication to periodic?

I can imagine in a crisis, that can add some fun (aka terror), as the comms window won't be open for another FOUR hours.

How dramatic is that change, to your story? Did it improve a premise, or make you have to do some serious rework?
