Well, if I lost the book, the next best thing would be have a mind that knows a lot of magic. Consider me addicted to being able to do real magic. Just because the "book" is gone, doesn't mean that there aren't other things that would be useful if you know how to do them. Sure, there might be a few (or maybe more than a few) things that I wouldn't want to know from memories, but it would be worth it to have access to the knowledge of Aubrey Blackwell.
