If the contest owner (and/or designated judge(s)) have not been logged in since you posted your entries, you could edit your entry posts and remove the item information, replacing it with a withdrawal notice.
If they have logged in since you entered, it would be better to edit the post, tag them, and include a withdrawal notice, but leave the item ID number in case they needed to update the judging information elsewhere.
