Just joined, would like to start writing at some point
I have nothing to do this summer, so I thought I'd give myself some goals:
Detox my mind, or rebuild my concentration and patience that was destroyed by life issues
get out and photograph stuff on nice days
clean my room before I start my lease in august
and as of today, try and get a jump start on getting back into writing.

Writing has been something I've wanted to do for a long time, but have not gotten myself to write outside of class stuff. I've gotten really good grades in english classes, and really enjoyed writing as soon as I no longer had to write ACT papers (or senior year of high school through the first year of college).

I took my college's two creative writing classes summer and fall 2016, but have not taken any english classes since and had two disastrous papers in a communications class and history of photography class I should have written with ease. Now... I am going to try and take more writing classes at my new college starting this fall, but like I said, I've got nothing to do with myself (because my job is reducing my hours due to a remodel) so why not have some goals? At some point I'm going to try and post my interests on my bio, but there's a lot to see here.

Also, a quick summary of my reading habits

K-8th grade, I was great about reading books during my free time, but not very often on my own, or if the book I was reading during the free reading time got me hooked it would spill over into other parts of my life. 9th and 10th grade it went away aside from some in class books (due to high school structure and ACT writings), but the summer before 11th grade I read the Full Arthur C. Clarke Space odyssey series, and then barely read anything outside of class stuff until summer, where I had some books I wanted to read, but only made it halfway. I got some free reading done my senior year, but then stopped for a year and a half.
This all changed when I took my college's first creative writing class, the professor was surprised to hear I didn't read much yet I did have some writing sensibilities. This got me back into reading (I had tried another Arthur C. Clarke series- the Rama series in high school, but the second book was terrible and I had difficulty starting it), so I got back and did stuff on my own, read all three terrible Rama sequels within a semester, read four more books from Christmas break to spring break, then read the first Foundation (Asimov) book after spring break to the start of summer. the summer of 17 was the worst summer of my life, and I only made it halfway through the second foundation book, but had the series finished by that spring break.
Then it changed again. I couldn't focus on reading. I managed to do the Strugatsky Brothers' Hard to be a God from spring break to sometime in the summer of 18, but haven't gotten it back. I couldn't read books on my favorite movie director (Andrei Tarkovsky) for my history of photography paper. I tried to start Frank Norris's The octopus this year but I've only gotten to chapter three and it doesn't want to click with me.

So, yea. reading is essential to writing but I'm having difficulties with it right now.
