Hi, WdC community,

I'm trying to broaden my horizon when it comes to reading, particularly short story reading. Right now, I read mostly fantasy and science fiction. My problem is, I don't know where to start looking for great magazines focusing on other genres, so I wanted to ask if anybody out there have some magazine recommendations when it comes to "literary" fiction, poetry mysteries, thrillers, or romance?

Magazines with free online versions or just free samples online have preference (not that I don't like to pay for a good read -- I do support the magazine I read regularly -- but since I'm going outside my preferences here, I'd like to know what I'm reading is worth paying for first).

Also, if you're well-read in any of the above genres, I'd appreciate your view on what, aside from the general qualities of a good story/poem, makes a story work in that particular genre?
