Hi, this is in regards to the password compromise. After changing it, I checked my Spam e-mail and saw a message from "Save yourself" and the subject "Seen everything--[Writing.com password omitted]." I didn't open it and so can only view the first part of the message, which says, "Hi, I know one of your passwords is: [omitted]. Your computer was infected with..."

I'm on my tablet at the moment but am reluctant to open it on any device. It shows no attachment, but just trying to be safe. I have up-to-date antivirus software running on my laptop, and haven't logged in to Writing.com in a while, so I'm suspecting this is just a mass-generated threat sent out by whoever got the compromised account info and they're probably trying to threaten users to pay up or a virus will be unleashed when they can do no such thing unless we give them the right info; I really don't see how I could be infected with anything.

BUT...I once had a computer that got infected with a cryptovirus DESPITE having antivirus running (I think I got a hijacked ad--so I use an adblocking browser now, too)...so I'm afraid. I've never seen my password actually shown to me like this. So I know my account was definitely compromised.

Did anyone else get this e-mail? It's in my Spam and is from yesterday (July 21). What does the entirety of it say? I'm not infected, am I? Is it safe to ignore it (aside from changing my password--which I did a second time, after seeing the threat)?
