While your fingers are tripping the light fantastic on the keyboard, you are pressing some key combination that is the equivalent of an up-arrow.
Go into Word and look at the keyboard settings for something other than 'up-arrow = up one line' that does the same. You can change any key combinations you think might be the culprit.
