I'm working on a WIP in which the protagonist communicates with her deceased Aunt & Uncle. The protagonist will verbally speak to her ghosts or mentally communicate with them - in that case, I use regular font style. When the ghosts communicate with her, I use italics for their speech. Is this an appropriate writing style to help the reader realize there are ghosts communicating their portion of the story? Is there a better way of displaying live character vs. ghostly character dialogue exchanges?
