Thank-you everyone. This is really informative... and tells me I think I am right staying away from it myself. I might have only sold a few books to publishers, but it seems easier than going through this! The lady in question is publishing her mother's life story and so I can understand that no-one wants to publish it, but I will print this off and show her tomorrow (Wed) and then wait for her next barrage of questions.

I knew asking here was going to be my best option to get an honest appraisal of everything.
