Dengue fever - ahhhh....... mosquito borne illness. Seems the people thousands of years ago had customs of not keeping water around for mosquitos to breed. That is, not keep water in jugs for more than a day. But once they went to other areas and were not allowed to follow those customs, they were endangered. They they caught mosquito-borne illnesses such as dengue fever and malaria.
Like I said, I am reading books about plagues in the past. This fact came from 'Plagues and Peoples' by Wm. McNeill.
