Sometimes our stories take us places we've never been before. It's great to make up stuff. But often our stories require us to know subjects we're completely unfamiliar with: technologies, cultures, times and places in history, and so forth. For instance, I'm gathering info for a new project that has me diving into geology, weather, wildlife, and communications.

I'm not opposed to doing research. But many subjects are so vast, it's hard to start from zero and soon find the one item you were looking for. An expert who could give the inquiring soul a drop-kick in the right direction would be a friend indeed!

Is there a forum or group where a writer could post "I need help with the geography of volcanoes" or "I need help understanding radios"?? If not, I think we could use something like that here.
