Questions for a story

Okay, questions for any Canadians who might be here at WdC.

How "religious" is Canadian society? What is the dominant religion (if Christianity, what sects)? Does it vary greatly from province to province? Does this belief inform a lot of everyday life or is it just there in the background?

To explain, I've sort of pictured Canadians as colder Australians, based on the numbers of Canadians I have met, but this is one aspect of Canadian society I am unsure of.
