If a Table Could Talk


Dust layers covered the coffee table,
and she would have ranted if only able.
Every day, she thought they would notice
it covered even the pink, plastic lotus
that sat in the vase on her fine, flat top.
Her blood pressure boiled. Do they ever stop
to think about me and my presentation??
It’s not like I can fix this situation!!


It’s tough being angry when you are nonliving,
concerned with appearance, and plain unforgiving.
