Hi,

I am confused as what this is. I was asked once to write the Backstory of James Bond and how he came to be a spy. (Anything thing I wanted) I got the reply that what I wrote wasn't a Backstory because I mentioned a couple of things that happened to him as a kid.

My question is: is a backstory overview what has happened to the character and his/her reaction and what emotional wound it may have triggered that leads up to the beginning of the story?
