To transfer bold and italics from Google Docs, you can download it as a Word doc when finished (File/Download/Word doc in the menus). When you create a new item in WdC, just drag the downloaded file onto the top bar (it says "Drag and drop your word file here"). It will auto-insert all of the WritingML tags for you. That way, you won't have to add all your formatting again.
