For World-building:
A bit of context here- I'm student-teaching a 5th grade class and we're doing a haunted house narrative writing assignment.

We went over world-building today, actually. Mostly setting, but it tied in. One student wanted to set their narrative in 1521 (whoa there, that's 500 years ago!) and another is doing it in an apocalyptic, post-Covid world a couple years from now.
My point here is that, I told them, whatever it is they do, make sure they set some rules for their world. I might even suggest some maps or new ways of brainstorming for them- we're also focusing on putting them through the whole writing process- brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising, and publishing. *Cool*

Turns out there's quite the load one can learn from a 5th grade writing assignment.
