Here's one I wrote not so long ago ... Name Game I like to give names to all I possess. It fills me with unspeakable happiness. For instance, my blue car I call Billy-Ray. He takes me to market ‘cause he knows the way. There’s Sparky, the mower, who needs a new blade. I’ll pick up a sharp one next time I get paid. And then, there’s the fan on the table. That’s Cindy. She doesn’t say much, but she is mighty windy. I bought a new washer. His name? Jimmy Dean. All I can say is he gets the clothes clean! The toaster is Eddie. The dryer is Joe. Queen Martha’s the freezer. Pretentious, I know. My Westinghouse blender goes by Cora Lee, and she can sure make a mean daquiri! Make fun if you want, but I'm not ashamed. All helpful machines deserve to be named. ~ ~ ~ Dew Drop Inn – 04.15.21 16 lines prompt: machines Poet's Place Cafe prompt: Write a poem about the concept of NAMES. |
