I've added a new item to my portfolio:

Gaia Plots revenge   (E) SF poetry contest entry

the spirit of the ancient trees woke up
after thousands of years of slumber.

They woke up and marched on Washington
Demanding an end to logging, pollution, mining
And other assaults on the planet earth
By the mad human creatures.

They said that Gaia, the guardian angel
Of the planet had summoned them
With this warning to the people of Earth.
Your time on this planet is coming to an end
I have decreed it, and no one can oppose my will.

Gaia kept her word, unleashing a supper plagues
Wiped out 99 percent of humanity.
The few who remained lived under
the watchful eyes of the tree spirits.
