And indeed, you're right... it shouldn't do that.

There was a login validator for other parts of Writing.Com that never got implemented into the interactive stories system.

But it is now! When you submit a chapter, the system will check to see that author is logged in before sending the form along. If the author isn't logged in, they'll be prompted to login and then the form will submit without issue.
