I'm very sorry about what happened to both you and your sister. I don't know if the perpetrators understand that they are destroying lives and "can't help themselves" or if they don't care.
Anyway, changing a personality disorder is one of the hardest types of therapy because it's the PERSONALITY--the essence of who you are. Most therapists don't even like working with them. It's definitely a challenge and whether she can't or won't let them help her, both are quite likely and not necessarily mutually exclusive. But in the end, it's all just very sad.
I'm glad you're doing better than she is! When I came back from Iraq, at first I was glad I didn't have kids because I think they would have really suffered from how I returned. I saw that with many of my friends. But then I later saw them improving faster...because they had to. So, then I decided maybe it would have been better if I had had kids. Who knows?
