I worked in the western part of the country: Rio Cuarto (Cordoba), Maipu (Mendoza, General Alvear (Mendoza), and Carlos Paz (Cordoba). It was a hard life, being a missionary, but I did get to see a lot of the countryside. Some of it was barren pampas, but there was a lot of beauty, as well. The vineyards, mountains, parks, and older parts of the cities. The food was incredible, and I got to know a lot of good people there. I even self-pubbed a book about the two years (on Amazon).
The only strange thing about the experience was the risk we always ran of being hassled or run in by the police. A lot of innocent people met their end in the late 70s and early 80s, just because someone suspected them of being dissidents. But all in all, there was something magical about certain parks and wilderness areas and old dirt roads we used to ride our one-speed bicicletas along.
