Sometimes we try too hard to achieve our goal. This makes us uptight, so our writing becomes uptight. It may be something as simple as not using contractions in dialogue, causing your problems. Perhaps you should post some of your work and ask for others’ opinions on the dialogue. Meanwhile, I found the site below really helpful.
