Not that I've ever heard of it, but is "summer fruit" a concept anymore? I mean, if we can buy any fruit we want in the supermarket at any time of the year, how are we to tell what is a summer fruit and what isn't (and what aisle are the winter fruits in anyway)? It might be easier to classify by temperate and tropical fruits instead. Which would allow me to pick the avocado that I wanted, however it is classified.

Incidentally, the reason "summer fruit" has no meaning for me is that I grew up in the tropics, where there are no particular seasons for any fruit and even fruit from temperate regions can be grown successfully.
