I'm a killjoy, but some spectacular crimes against children in Germany in the 90s, 200s involving vans (for taking them) caused me to avoid them like they're hell on wheels driven by a mean-intending devil (can you tell I'm Catholic?).
Even more when seductive things like ice cream or puppies are being offered. (Happened to me once when I was around 8.)
