I can tell you about a death bed confession that backfired.
My uncle was self-employed and had lots of free time. He had a heart attack and he thought he was going to die. While still in the hospital hooked up to all sorts of life support, he confessed his numerous infidelities to his wife, my aunt. But there was a problem, at least in this case, he lived! (oops!) Life was never the same for him after his recovery.
So, no, there's no reason to increase the grieving a loved one goes through after they lose a loved one. And, what if you live?
