The use of universal emoji's in handles isn't something that's technically supported.

While it's possible to do it, using emoji that are outside of WDC means that WDC doesn't control the emojis or the colors they display. Universal emojis are provided by your browser, phone OS, computer OS, etc. These emojis can differ depending on your device and how your device interprets the emoji symbol. That's why it appears differently depending on where you're looking at it.

That's different from the Writing.Com {e:xxxxx} emojis which are specific images that WDC shows in replacement of WritingML emoji tags. {e:HeartY}, for example, is ALWAYS going to show WDC's HeartY image regardless of what platform you're using.

So... while universal emojis will work on WDC as they say, your milage will vary.
