I've never served on a jury, but I've had experience with one. Some guy whose bumper I tapped sued me two years later. I was terrified when a man outside my door called out my full name. I panicked, wondering 'what the heck'? He was a super-nice guy and told me to call my insurance company, who would handle everything. Not quite. I had to sit in a courtroom for five days, right after my shoulder surgery. Anyhow, the jury was amazing. They were all attentive and their decision was excellent. Whatever they decided would not have changed my mind. I had nothing but respect for them. My insurance company was willing to pay the guy $35,000, but he turned down the offer and went for the jury trial. The jury awarded him $5,000, which may not have even covered the court costs. Justice was served. |
