I'd like to offer 3 suggestions:

1) Do reviews, especially through something like Anniversary Reviews. People are more likely to review in return and this can start conversations.

2) Respond to posts on the Newsfeed. Not just your personal one, but the community one. It has certainly helped me become more involved here! Also, post on the Newsfeed as well - how you're feeling, what you're doing, asking questions like this one that started this post.

3) Participate in contests or activities. Contests can see you rewarded and nearly everything has a contest about it. I personally don't like doing contests, but there are also a heap of activities here. Question of the Day, Express Yourself Within 40 Words, Soundtrack of Your Life, Small Talk - these are activities that encourage participation and are not contests.

Just find what you enjoy here and have fun.
