I've had cravings for ice-cold water for almost a year. I'm talking basically slushie water. I absolutely detest freezing-cold water, especially in the winter, but here we are. I can't always deny it, because it legit drives me nutty if I don't give in.
As it turns out, I have critically low ferritin (iron stores). By critically low, I mean "we should do something about that," normal is 15, and mine is 2.
Anyway, craving ice cubes or ice-cold water is a common symptom and a major red flag. It's a form of pica. Sometimes you crave dirt, so I'm glad I got the water one.
