I think I might have two. One was Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. She wrote the Den of Shadows quartet. I went and read her work and instantly got hooked. Unfortunately after reading her Den of Shadows: The Keisha Ra, I moved to the east coast. It seems impossible to find anything written by her in libraries or bookstores here. I also got hooked on Terry Pratchett. After reading his book The Hog Father, I read a lot of his other Disc World series. I loved them so much they have inspired me to make up my own fantasy world. Tauroid World—kind of a donut shaped place—is slowly being built but I haven't managed to get past the geopolitics of TW. I think once I do that, write in some other details, I might be able to create characters and get this planet rotating around its star. |
