That hard work always pays off? That police can be trusted?

The main thing that has been disproved was what dinosaurs looked like. When I was a student, it was always scaly lizard-like creatures. now we're looking at feather or filament-covered bird-lizard hybrids, and that dinosaurs are still with us, we just call them birds nowadays. The field of palaeontology had developed so much in the 45+ years since I first t0ook an interest in dinosaurs.

As an Australian, we were taught the Captain James Cook discovered Australia. Well, that discounts the Indigenous Australians for a start, who were here at least 50,000 years ago. Then there's the fact Janszoon from Holland landed on the west coast at least 100 years before Cook, and there is even evidence that ancient China knew of Australia.

It's like saying Columbus discovered America. It ignores the fact native Americans found the place around 20,000 years ago, and the Vikings and Celts landed in Canada long before Columbus was erven thought of.
