Two things.

Soft drink (like Coke, Pepsi, that sort of thing). Apart from lemonade in summer (Australian lemonade is nothing like the US version) maybe, dad didn't allow it

Modern music. Dad felt that, apart from Abba, music died in 1967. He let us watch Countdown for an hour every Sunday, and that was it. Not even radio. When he died in 1981 I spent the next 5 years absorbing the music I missed. It's what made me the music nerd I am.
