Question of the Day!

You know in Germany we have words for every fart we let off. Here, the rag rug Germany once was shines in the linguistics.


I don't know what the word for it is here in Luxembourg, but I use the one my Dad used, who was from Bavaria:

– Ranftl.


In Cologne, where I was born, we say

– Knützje.


And in Swabia (Stuttgart, where a quarter of me is from) & Baden (near Black Forest, where I grew up), we say

– Knäusle or
– Knus(ch)t.


My fave, though – and no joke! – is

– ärschle (=> diminutive of Arsch = butt)


Imagine when it slips out of me at a Saarlandish Grillparty: "I want the ärschle!
