it's a progressive rock conceptual album, and as far as i can tell it's very polarizing even among fans of the genre. lots of ambient passages (for example, the intro to "miranda that ghost just isn't holy anymore" includes a recording of puerto rican frogs chirping for four minutes), very long songs (with the last track being 32 minutes and a half), a very mind screw-y story...

in some ways, it reminds me of house of leaves (another obsession of mine)
