Question of the Day!

As a lad, I remember watching in wonder as Grandma handwashed and dried off a complete day's load of family dishes in about 15/20 minutes.

So what I have trouble understanding is why it takes a sleek, modern state-of-the-art dishwater around 4 hours to do the same job?!
