As has already been said, it depends on the person, but the book that always springs to mind is Joseph Heller's Catch 22. I guess largely because of the age I was when I first read it - 16 - it was a massive influence on my understanding of how best to come to terms with the strange, and often ridiculous, ways of the world. |
