I also remember either an editor or an agent at a conference once stated that it is very common for prologues to get deleted because in the end they aren’t necessary to start the novel. However, for the first draft there is nothing wrong with writing a little extra.

Most people probably end up with shorter novels in edits, unlike me. lol
