Sometimes when I am struggling with two crossroads, it's time to think outside of the box and consider combining them. Maybe there are elements of hiding from her husband or whatever that inspired her to be a Police Detective.

I would let the ideas marinade. Write down what you like about both ideas, and what you dislike.
