Looks very promising to me. Reminds me of "A Laughing Goddess Rhamnusia"  [18+]. You can return to assignment One and do more What-ifs to help you further. What if the wife, what if the husband, what if the sister-in-law PI, what if the LA guy? Then flesh out a few you like the best. Go crazy, go all the way. Make cross-connections (The LA guy is the secret boyfriend of the sister-in-law, so the sister-in-law PI has hidden motives) etc. But the plan looks like something good.
