Hey, at least it's not coelacanth! Still not as cool as say a Tasmanian tiger—giant carnivorous marsupial from the southern hemisphere believed to be extinct but still spotted.
On a hike in Shenandoah, I could've sworn I saw a Lynx watching me from the tree line. Not sure if they're supposed to be extinct in that area but it sure was a shock.
Around here an idiot posted pictures on Facebook. The post reads "did anyone loose their cat? I rescued it and am giving it a bath." And the picture shows a mountain lion cub. The original poster got attacked and hid in the closet while they called animal controll.
Sorry, I shouldn't laugh but it's hard to believe how ignorant people are. Our cities are built on their former territory. Prey animals run through our yard all the time. Of course there's going to be a large predator in the area! It behoves us to know how to identify local wildlife so we don't end up like the guy on Facebook.
