Probably the best known legend in my beautiful little slice of the world relates to the Irish giant, Finn MacCool who created the spectacular Giant's Causeway so that he could stride across the Irish Sea to bonnie Scotland to finish off his great rival, the Scottish giant Benandonner.
I'd have to admit that I can't rightly vouch for the absolute truth of that one, but there's um, no disputing that he also tore a big chunk of land from the centre of Northern Ireland and flung it up and away into the middle of the Irish Sea, thereby simultaneously creating both Lough Neagh and the Isle of Man. Well, at least according to my much-loved old Grandaddy he did; and we all know that people's much-loved old Grandaddies never, ever make things up. Don't we?
